foam mattresses

There are three types of foam; latex, memory foam and less expensive resilient foam. Latex and memory foam provide pressure relieving comfort but they do feel quite different. In order to choose between a memory foam or latex mattress you should try both in your local bed retailer to truly experience the difference. We have many foam mattresses, often combine with pocket springs and other upholstery fillings to give to more variety to find the most comfortable one for you.

memory foam

Memory foam softens in reaction to body heat, allowing it to mould to your individual body contours providing perfect pressure relieving support.

Responds to body temperature
Shaping to your individual body contours and providing perfect support.
Pressure relieving properties
The support provided by memory foam reduces stress on the body's pressure points and relieves aches and pains, preventing excessive tossing and turning to provide a more restful sleep.
Improves blood circulation
Memory foam allows the body to be supported correctly and this encourages natural blood circulation.
Man-made ingenious
Memory foam is polyurethane with additional chemicals to increase its viscosity and density. It is often referred to as “viscoelastic” polyurethane foam. It was first invented by NASA in the 1970s for space programs and used to upholster astronauts flight chairs to reduce pressure points, making astronauts more comfortable from the G-forces experienced during lift off. Since then it has been developed and has become a popular material of choice for medical and domestic mattresses and pillows due to its pressure relieving comfort.
Temperature and weight responsive
Memory foam is temperature sensitive. Your memory foam mattress will feel firm at first, until it softens and moulds around the shape of your body in response to your body weight and heat.
Body hugging comfort
Memory foam moulds to body contours to provide even distribution of body weight, pressure and responds and adapts to any bodily movements, reducing excessive tossing and turning for a more peaceful night’s sleep.
Steady recovery
It steadily recovers to its original shape once the pressure is removed. Over time the mattress may soften and compress slightly under areas of most body weight, which is why rotating your mattress is so important. We do not recommend the use of electric blankets with memory foam mattresses.

Foam

Great value for money as they are less expensive than memory foam but still provide a good level of support for a comfortable night’s sleep. We have designed mattresses with different levels of comfort and support by varying the density and depth of the foam.

Latex Foam

Latex is a natural filling sourced from rubber trees. It is extremely durable and anti-microbial, and also provides an extremely sumptuous feel.

Pressure relieving properties
The support provided by latex reduces stress on the body’s pressure points and relieves aches and pains, preventing excessive tossing and turning to provide a more restful sleep.

Improves blood circulation
Latex allows the body to be supported correctly and this encourages natural blood circulation.

Natural
Latex is a premium quality, naturally derived material made from latex liquid tapped from the trunks of rubber trees.

Natural elasticity for immediate recovery
Latex has a distinctive resilient and durable feel. Its natural elasticity means it recovers its shape immediately when pressure is removed providing natural bounce.

Natural bounce
It also has very good point elasticity which provides even pressure distribution for independent support.

Anti-microbial
Latex is inherently dust-mite resistant and anti-microbial.
